Anthony Smith will step down as Dc Horsham Weald, I am sure we would
all take this opportunity to say thank you to Anthony for all his
dedication and hard work.
We would also like to welcome Brian Barker who is taking over as DC
from Horsham Weald as from 1st April
District & County
Equipment
Please can you locate
all District equipment in your groups and let Jeremy Kett know as we
need an updated list for insurance purposes and so that we know
what's where for future requests / events.
Also, if you have any County
equipment please let me know as the County are also updating their
lists for similar reasons.
Please remember that, although I
obviously realise the ease of e-mail communication (things can be
done as they are thought of), it is not my preferred method of
communication. I do feel that speaking either face to face or over
the phone saves many misunderstandings and misinterpretations that
otherwise can arise. My mobile phone is always on - I wont pick up
whilst driving - and I will always phone you back (unless I'm out of
the country!) Both mobile and land line have ansaphones.
Whilst I'm on the subject of e-mail
- my e-mail address is obviously the work one and this will not
change in the near future. However, it is becoming obvious that
some e-mails are not reaching me (I blame our firewall). If I have
not acknowledged your e-mail within 5 working days, and you haven't
had an out of office message please phone me - it wont have reached
me, which also means that if you re-send it, that wont get through
either!

32nd National Scout Air
Rifle Championships

the entry forms for the 32nd National Scout Air Rifle Championships
held at Bisley Camp near Guildford Surrey on the 17th- 19th October
2008.

Another mini bus has come up for sale from my
contact.
Once again the owners have requested that it be offered to a Scout
Group in West Sussex.
It's a 17 seater LDV, P reg. 25,000 on the clock.
Has full service history.
In fact it has just had a service and an MOT.
Excellent condition, so I'm told.
The asking price is £1,000
It will be available to look at and drive away from the 21st April
but anyone interested should contact me via email to arrange
viewing.

AGM Dates
If you have not yet
notified your Group AGM date to Pru or Julie we would be grateful if
you would do so as soon as possible please to ensure District
attendance. Please be aware that, although I will do my best to
attend them all, I will need to send my apologies to some of you
owing to prior commitments (and a holiday!)

- Training queries weekend. All Training Advisers are now fully
booked. Bookings being taken for 7 / 8 June. Please note no Adviser
will be able to validate more than 3 modules at any one appointment
and no modules will be validated less than one month after a course
has been attended unless by prior agreement.
13 April
- Scout / Explorer Camp Cooking competition - some leaders still
appear to know nothing about this event! PLEASE pass the
information on and encourage attendance at this FUN event.
16 April
- Rehearsals for St George's Day 6:15pm / 6:30pm Arundel Cathedral.
All Standard bearers to attend.

April - Bronze & Silver Award Presentations - St
Nicholas' Church, Arundel - timings as last year. For more details
please contact Pru.
20 April
- St George's Day Parade - Arundel - timings as last year. For more
details please contact Pru. Full and proper uniforms please, with
Black shoes.
21 April
- District Beaver Leaders Meeting - Arun View 8pm to discuss the
District challenge on June 7th (with team selection for the county
challenge on Sept 21st!).
5 May -
District Bag Packing - Haskins Roundstone Garden Centre. This is
the date agreed with the GSL's at the District Team Meeting. Please
encourage your leaders / young people to attend. For more details
please contact Pru.
17 May
- District Cub Leaders Meeting, 7pm Roundstone Public House
19 May
- District Team Meeting (Venue TBC) - 8pm start
22 June - New
